Welcome to the Greater Moncton Family Resource Centre!
This Centre is one of 13 Family Resource Centres in New Brunswick. The Moncton Centre has been established since 1995. It operates under the Community Action Program for Children, and is funded through The Public Health Agency of Canada.
The mission of the Greater Moncton Family Resource Centre is to offer free programs to families with children 0 to 6 years of age. The Centre offers a variety of ressources to assist parents in their role and to promote healtjy family life style.
The Centre operates under an inclusive philosophy, which aims to support families from diverse backgrounds; nevertheless the Centre recognizes that some families may have special needs.
To the first time participants, we would like to wish you and your children a positive experience with us and hopefully by participating in our programs, you and your family will make new friends, and learn new skills while playing with your children in a very relaxing atmosphere.
In the family room, you will find books, toys, videos, musical instruments, and a variety of bilingual children’s music, a dress up corner, craft supplies and much more.
All of our programs are free of charge. Some are more structured than others and then other programs are only available with your help and involvement! Over the years, the Centre’s success was made possible with the parent’s participation and the staff’s dedication. At the Main Centre, you will meet with the Executive Director, the Children’s Program Coordinator and the secretary.
In the rural communities of Shédiac, Memramcook, Salisbury and Riverview, an Outreach Coordinator offers Community Playgroups on a weekly basis and a Musical morning once a month.
We wish to invite all the parents and guardians to work together with the staff so your family can benefit from the full potential of our facility. During structured programs such as: parent and tot, musical morning, readiness for school, collective kitchen, parenting programs, parenting workshops, etc., the Centre always provides a program coordinator who is responsible to facilitate the program with the families.
However, other programs such as: drop-in, family time, family reading, etc. are family owned programs where parents and children are welcomed to use the playroom and have access to all the material on site. We encourage families to tidy up the room before leaving to have it clean and secure for the next participants.
Note: During educational programs for parents, the Centre offers free childcare to the participants who are registered, and have registered their children with the Children’s Program Coordinator.
Sincerely,
Claire and staff
