Programs
Active KidsThis program is offered on a weekly basis at the Main Centre(45 minutes weekly) and also the rural locations (20 minutes weekly). The main obective is to promote physical activities at early age and help children develop their coordination and motor skills. The second objective is to offer parents easy and secure ways to encourage daily physical activities at home. Parent support groupThis program will re-open this fall and will be offered once a week every Monday mornings from 9:30-11:30. Together, the program facilitator and the parents plan 4 weeks of activities at the time based on education and support. Parents interested to participate will have to pre-register every week. This program will also be offered in both official languages alternately. Free childcare could be provided upon request. For the love of readingAn innovative family literacy program designed to stimulate and encourage early reading. A 45 minute interactive session based on a different theme every week, including a craft activity, a circle time and other visual materials related to the story. Mother GooseCome and join a group of parents with your child for a free 10 weeks program (Families with children 0-5 years). You will cuddle, talk, sing and have fun with your child while learning rhymes, songs and stories. This program is offered by two qualified facilitators. Nobody's PerfectThis program is offered to parent of children 0-5 years. During the 6 weeks sessions, you will learn new parenting skills and also increase your knowledge on child safety, healthy child development, growth and behaviours. This program will also give you the opportunity to exchange, socialize and get support from other participant. Emergency preparedness workshopIs your family prepared! Every Canadian household needs an emergency plan. This 2 hours workshop offers you an excellent opportunity to develop a family emergency plan tapered to your own needs. You will learn to know the most common risks in your region, learn to make a household plan, emergency instructions and also prepare an emergency kit. Drop-InA non-structured playtime for families. Parents and children are welcome to use the playroom and have access to all the materials on site. Parent and TotA family oriented morning that is organized by the children’s program coordinator giving the parents an opportunity to socialize with their children and other families while making crafts and other various activities. Book Lending LibraryBooks for parents and children from the centre can be borrowed for two weeks. Books are in both English and French with information on pre and postnatal care, parenting, self help, health & nutrition, relationships, and more. Musical MorningOne hour of musical activities for children (0 to 6 years old) and their parents that aims to develop your child’s self esteem, musical interest, gross motor skills, listening skills, and group interaction. School ReadinessA 10 session program that helps to prepare 4 and 5 year old children for entrance in the school system by developing their self help, cooperation, self esteem, hand-eye coordination, problem solving, social skills, and language skills, as well as developing their attention span. It also helps to begin the separation process between parents and children. Learning through PlayWhile parents / guardians are attending an educational program at the centre, the child (ren) will “learn through play” while under the supervision and support of our child care staff. How to talk so kids will listenSix-part video workshop based on the books “How to talk so kids will listen…” and “Liberated Parents, Liberated Children” by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. This program offers parents and caregivers effective, innovative ways to communicate with children. Six sessions, two hours per session. Parent WorkshopsOther programs such as parenting seminars, self esteem, relaxation, security at home other educational workshops, are available upon request when funding is available. Your suggestions are welcome! Outreach Community PlaygroupsFor all families with children 0 to 6 years of age in the communities of Shédiac,Cap Pelé,Memramcook,Petitcodiac ,Salisbury and Riverview.
